The perfect coffee preparation with the French Press
Why the French Press is so popular
The French press is one of the classic coffee-making methods. And that's no surprise: It's uncomplicated, requires no electricity, and beautifully brings out the coffee's full aroma. It's an excellent choice for our aromatic ALTOMAYO organic coffees, allowing their diverse flavors, from chocolatey to fruity, to unfold.
What you need
- A French press (e.g. made of glass or stainless steel)
- Freshly ground ALTOMAYO organic coffee (preferably medium to coarse grind)
- Hot water (approx. 92–96 °C)
- Scale and timer (optional, but helpful)
Step-by-step instructions
- Measuring coffee : For one cup (approx. 200 ml), we recommend about 12 g of ground coffee. The ideal ratio is 1:16 (coffee to water).
- Pour coffee : Pour the coffee powder into the preheated French press.
- Pour water : Pour the hot water evenly over the coffee powder and stir lightly with a spoon.
- Brewing time : Put the lid on without pressing down the plunger and let the coffee brew for about 4 minutes.
- Pressing : Press the stamp down slowly and evenly.
- Enjoy : Serve immediately – best fresh and hot!
Tips for the best results
- Use fresh, filtered water.
- Make sure the water temperature is right – not boiling!
- Experiment with the brewing time to suit your personal taste.
- Do not leave coffee in the pot after pressing – otherwise it will become bitter.
Conclusion: Enjoyment in its simplest form
The French press is perfect for those who like things simple but still want to enjoy full flavor. Our ALTOMAYO organic coffees, with their mild, low-acid flavors, are ideal for this method—whether at breakfast or during a relaxing afternoon with friends.
